Zoe has explored the theme Seascapes and Underwater Life in her artworks, with a heavy focus on the lack of appreciation within society for our planet's natural ecosystems. Zoe demonstrates the differences between a health reef system as compared to one affected by pollution and damage within her painting.

ZOE POULIOS

“Untitled”

My artwork focuses on tropical seascapes and underwater life, in particular, the lack of appreciation of our planet’s natural ocean ecosystems. The use of vivacious acrylic paints throughout my artwork emphasize the natural beauty of our beloved Great Barrier Reef. I aim to create a sense of realisation in regards to understanding our oceans future and the consequences based upon our cruel actions towards our seascapes. I have selected the art form of acrylic paint for my final artwork, ‘Untitled’ as I believe it is one of the best methods to demonstrate the beautiful bright colours within our oceans ecosystems, as well as the fine details shown in our marine life. The monotone hues of blue throughout the water encapsulate the beauty of our natural environment contrasting the fine details in the corals. The wooden border surrounding the painting contrasts against the pulsating colours, creating a sense of balance and harmony with the natural environment.
