Tahlia has chosen to focus her artworks on the theme of human connection with nature. Tahlia’s experiences with nature throughout her life have turned into fond memories that she truly cherishes. Through her artworks Tahlia wishes to convey and elicit these memories and emotions with her viewers, highlighting the human connection with nature.

‘Waves’

My topic is human connection with nature and how I feel and other people feel through experiences with nature. I also, want to communicate my memories that I have created throughout these artworks. I used a dirty pour Resin technique which involved pouring the colours all into one cup alternating, but not mixing them together. I also, used a heat gun to spread to resin over the wood and to create intentional movement within the Resin. The aesthetics conveyed are calming and relaxed demonstrated through the gentle colours used of soft blues and purples. This aesthetic can also be shown through the movement of the white resin flowing between the colours, symbolising the human connection with nature via the ocean and waves.

Materials used was Barnes glass epoxy resin Part A and Part B, MDF (400mm x 200mm), Pinanta colour, alcohol colour-based ink (rainforest green, passion purple and baja blue), white acrylic gesso, glitter (pearl white), pigment white paste on wood.

‘Sentimental’

My topic is human connection with nature and how I feel and other people through experiences with nature. I want to communicate my memories through people and nature to reveal my personal happiness amongst these special moments and convey these to my audience. The aesthetics conveyed are that of the caring and joyful emotions demonstrated through the model softly smiling at the plants. This can also be shown through the bright colours of the pink and greens, contrasting the background. The subject focus of the model and the leafy green plants help express my theme, portraying how I feel among these special moments. I used various techniques such as the use of natural outside lighting and sunlight filtering through the house to produce various lighting effects. I also included different compositions elements such as the use of the flowers as a focal point and the rule of thirds.

Materials I used was a Canon EOS 1500D camera, gloss photographic paper, a model (my sister), indoor plants, flowers and leaves from the garden all presented on wood.
